Germany

Maria Sibylla Merian (April 2, 1647 –January 13, 1717) was a German-born naturalist, entomologist, and botanical illustrator.  Merian was one of the first naturalists to study insects and her works contributed to the advance of entomology. She is on the 500-mark note, the 1989 series currency that was established in West Germany after World War II.

Indonesia

Raden Adjeng Kartini or Lady Kartini, also known as Raden Ayu Kartini, (April 21, 1879- September 17, 1904), was an Indonesian national heroine from the island of Java, the most populous of the Indonesian islands, she was also a pioneer in the area of education for girls and women’s rights for Indonesians. She is shown on the Indonesian 5-rupiah note.

Israel

Golda Meir (May 3, 1898 – December 8, 1978) was fourth prime minister of Israel and the first and only woman Prime Minister of Israel. She is known as the “Iron Lady” of Israeli politics. Meir is on the 10-shekel note in Israel.

Italy

Maria Tecla Artemisia Montessori (August 31, 1870 – May 6, 1952) was an Italian physician and educator best known for the philosophy of education that bears her name, the Montessori Method. She is on the front of the Italian 1000-lire note.
