Paraguay

Adela (June 1865-November 8, 1902) and Celsa (1868-April 18, 1938) Speratti were educational reformers in Paraguay, responsible for setting education standards and battling illiteracy. Adela was the first director and founder of the Normal School of Teachers, and Celsa succeeded her as director. They are shown together on the 2000-guarani note.

Philippines

Maria Corazon “Cory” Aquino(January 25, 1933 – August 1, 2009) was the first female president in the Philippines, and the first woman President in Asia. A prominent figure in the nonviolent revolution to restore democracy in the Philippines and she is recognized as the “Mother of Democracy.” She’s featured next to her husband on the 500-peso note in the Philippines.

Switzerland

Sophie Henriette Gertrude Taeuber-Arp (January 19, 1889 – January 13, 1943) was a Swiss artist, architect, and dancer. She is considered one of the most important artists of concrete art and geometric abstraction of the 20th century. She is featured on the 2004 50-Franken note in Switzerland.

Syria

Queen Zenobia (c.240–c.274) was a cultured monarch and fostered an intellectual environment in her court, which was open to scholars and philosophers. She was tolerant toward her subjects, and protected religious minorities. She is shown on the 1998 Syrian 500-pound banknote.
