Tiny Rascal Gang

The Tiny Rascal Gang (also appears as TRG) formulated in the Long Beach area of California in the 1980’s. The gang is comprised mainly of Cambodians who migrated to the United States in the early 1980’s. They are now considered the largest Asian gang in the United States. Similar to other refugee groups, there existed a lack of knowledge of the customs in the United States, which helped create a divide between their ethnic group and other ethnic groups. They banded together for protection after a fight with a Latino group, thus forming the TRG. Their colors are primarily gray and blue.

1 Way

1 Way was first encountered locally in Montgomery County in late 2013, originating in the Silver Spring area. Consisting of a former local gang, the core of the former gang moved to the Germantown area and started making music under the name “1 Way Hustle”. Originating with the music, they began to develop rivalry with Hit Squad and initiated an ongoing back and forth beef with them.

Surenos and Nortenos Conflict

The Surenos and Nortenos Conflict began in the early to mid-20th century. The conflict that started between some Latino “northerners” and Latino “southerners” of California (somewhere near what is now Bakersfield) is cultural in nature. Some Latino’s from northern California viewed various Latino’s from southern California as forgetful of their heritage. These southern California Latino’s viewed certain northern California Latino’s as being primitive and antiquated in their lifestyle. This heavily influences conflict between many Latino street gangs today. The divide was cemented in the California penal system in the 1950’s where inmates banded along these geographical and cultural barriers. Members of the prison gang Mexican Mafia represent the “south” while  members of the prison gang La Nuestra Familia represent the “north.” La Nuestra Familia was created in part for the purpose of protection from the Mexican Mafia.
